Mini Black Walnut Turkish Spindle

Hand Rubbed Finish

Handmade and hand finished Turkish spindle. These are from Solid Oak wood with a birch shaft. This is a multiple item listing and spindles have a weight of between 9 and 10 grams, a 3" diameter whorl and is on a 1/4" 4 1/2 inch long hardwood shaft. As with all my items these have been tested by my wife who is an avid spinner and knitter. This is the mini version of our very popular larger Turkish whorl. Last picture shows both together for comparison. Any doubts check my feedback!

These items are hand made from natural wood - wood has it's own grain and colorations. We hand sand each item with several different grits of sandpaper. Finally, each item receives hand applied finishes and then they are air dried on a non-stick surface, to bring out the beauty of the wood and designs.

Arrived on time and well packaged, both spindles I ordered were wrapped carefully. Spins faster than I expected and I've had a lot of funny taking it along with me to do some on the go spinning. I worried about it breaking when I stored it in my bag but haven't had any problems, I just wrap it in a bit of fabric and store it and my fiber in a pouch.

This mini spindle is well-balanced and fully functional while being compact enough to keep assembled and displayed on a desk. Do take note of the scale --- mini really does mean mini, but this is perfect for me, since I plan to use it for very fine yarns and scaled-down demonstrations that can fit in my purse.
